subproject B: “ Analysis of innovation decisions in the German breeding of winter wheat”
In this part of the project the determining factors in the decisions on the breeding of varieties and the flow of information within the innovation system in winter wheat breeding are to be identified.
According to the “ Theory of induced innovation “ the basic hypothesis is that the expected development of demand and cost has a significant influence on the breeding of varieties. This is determined by the expectations of a range of actors with regard to the development of future planting systems, the environmental situation, the market and the political environment as well as by the varied influence of the actors within the innovation system.
Procedural method: study of references, interviews with experts in the breeding business and further members of the innovation system using the relevant constituent parts of the RAAKS and net map.
